The first session is a space to begin getting to know you—at your own pace.
We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what feels important in your life right now, and any patterns, relationships, or experiences you want to explore. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say.
This session is also about building a sense of safety and fit. I’ll share a bit about how I work, and you’ll have space to ask questions and get a feel for whether this feels like the right place for you.
Together, we start to understand your story, what matters to you, and what kind of support you’re needing. From there, we can begin shaping the direction of our work.
There’s no pressure to go deep right away—therapy is a process, and we move at a pace that feels right for you.ion

Yes of course! If you have out-of-network insurance benefits, you are welcome to use them.
-
If you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance company will typically reimburse you for 60-80% of the cost of each session after you’ve met your deductible.
Use this calculator to get an instant estimate of your OON coverage, including your deductible and amount remaining on deductible, as well as an estimated reimbursement amount post-deductible.
I’d also be happy to check your benefits for you! Just make sure to have your insurance card handy, with your Member ID, during our free intro call.
Or if you prefer, you can confirm the benefits of your health insurance plan with your insurance provider directly. However, I highly recommend using Thrizer’s free benefits calculator to save you time and energy!

Your out-of-network benefits are usually pretty straightforward to use. All you have to do is
I will provide you with a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. You will be responsible for paying for each session in full at time of appointment.
Or, I partner with a company, Thrizer, who can submit claims to your insurance company on your behalf for a small fee. After you meet your deductible, you can decide whether or not you want to pay for our sessions in full. You have the option to either pay in full and wait for reimbursement or simply pay your co-insurance. Thrizer can cover the rest of our session cost for you while they wait for reimbursement from your insurance company.
We can discuss these options in more detail on an intro call and see what works best for you!

Yes, I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots in my schedule. If you do not think you can afford my full fee, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
If I’m unable to offer you a sliding scale spot, I’d be happy to offer referrals to trusted clinicians in the area.

No, I am only licensed in the state of California. You must live and reside in the state of California for us to work together

Before scheduling a therapy session, I do a free 15 minute intro call with all potential clients. This gives us the chance to get to know each other. Here’s what you can expect:
I’ll ask you about why you’re seeking therapy
I’ll tell you a bit about myself and my approach as a therapist
You can ask me any questions that I didn’t cover
We’ll talk about rates, insurance, availability, etc.
-
If we both decide we're a good fit after our intro call, we'll schedule our first therapy appointment. I'll send you some forms to complete before our first session. I'll also send you a link for our video calls or my office address, depending on whether/not you request in person or virtual appointments

I ask that clients meet weekly for the first 8 weeks to build a strong foundation and progress.
As we move forward, I may recommend adjusting the frequency of our sessions—either increasing or decreasing them—to best support your needs.

My approach is systematic, as I specialize in multigenerational trauma, anxiety, and couples. This means meaning therapy is designed to be deep, when applied consistently and effectively. Most clients feel that after 8 to 6 months, and feel ready to move on.
At the same time, some clients choose to continue longer. They’ve experienced meaningful progress and value having ongoing support, as well as a dedicated space each week to process their thoughts and feelings.
