Therapy for Asian Women + Interracial Couples. Grounded in cultural understanding + care 🥹

If you’re stuck in survival mode from childhood trauma and ongoing stress, I help you build practical, trauma-informed skills to feel calmer, more grounded, and genuinely connected to yourself and others.

My Approach

Helen Bass - A woman in a dark blue dress standing on a garden pathway, smiling, with greenery and a porch in the background.

With me, you don’t have to perform in therapy. You get to show up as you are.

We look at how your past shaped the way you think, communicate, and connect. We look at what life looks like right now—then we notice the patterns that are still running your relationship, work, and self-story.

From there, we focus on what you can actually change: your thoughts, your responses, and your habits—so things start to shift in real life, not just in insight.

I’ll meet you with honesty, warmth, and direct challenge when it’s needed. As my former professor Dr. Wendy Ashley said, “I will laugh with you, ride with you, challenge you.” That’s how I work too.

Hi 👋🏼 I’m Helen Bass!

A woman with short, curly black hair smiling and wearing a white button-up shirt.

As the eldest daughter of Filipino immigrants, raised in the church and in an interracial marriage, I understand the pressure to meet expectations, overthink decisions, and feel guilty for wanting a life that looks different from what you were handed.

You don’t have to figure it all out before coming in.

In our work together, we slow things down and name what’s shaping you—family expectations, cultural pressure, faith, identity, and the beliefs that drive how you show up in relationships and decisions. Then we look at how those patterns are playing out right now.

From there, we focus on real change: breaking cycles like people-pleasing, guilt-based choices, scarcity thinking, and staying stuck in roles that don’t fit anymore. You’ll leave with tools you can actually use in daily life, not just insight.

The goal is simple: to help you build a life that actually feels like yours.

I’ll meet you with warmth, honesty, and direct support—helping you move toward clarity, steadiness, and relationships that feel more grounded and true to you.
